Islamic Funeral & Burial Services
In moments of grief, the Long Island Mevlana Mosque is here to guide you through the sacred Islamic funeral rites (Janāzah) with dignity, compassion, and adherence to Sunnah.
The Janāzah Process: Steps of Service
Immediate Contact & Guidance
Call the Mosque immediately. We will confirm the death (with a medical professional/hospital) and provide essential guidance on initial steps, paperwork, and transportation logistics.
Ghusl (Washing) & Kafan (Shrouding)
Our trained team will perform the ritual washing (Ghusl) and shrouding (Kafan) according to Sunnah, ensuring respect and purity. We have dedicated facilities for this sacred rite.
Salāt al-Janāzah (Funeral Prayer)
The Funeral Prayer will be held in congregation at the Mosque at a confirmed time, led by our Imam. This is a communal obligation (Fard Kifayah).
Burial (Dafn) & Du'ā
We coordinate transportation to the cemetery and oversee the burial, ensuring the body is placed correctly (facing the Qibla) followed by final prayers (Du'ā) for the deceased.
