Understanding Prayer Times in Islam

Prayer (Salat) is one of the five pillars of Islam, an obligation that is fixed in time. The timing of each of the five daily prayers is calculated based on the position of the sun. **Fajr** begins at dawn, before sunrise. **Dhuhr** begins when the sun begins to decline after reaching its zenith (midday). **Asr** is the afternoon prayer, starting when the shadow of an object reaches a specific length. **Maghrib** starts immediately after sunset, and **Isha** is the final prayer of the day, beginning when twilight disappears. The accurate calculation of these times is crucial for Muslim worship.

Our times are calculated using the **ISNA** (Islamic Society of North America) method, which is widely accepted in the United States and accounts for high-latitude adjustments to ensure consistency throughout the year. Please note that for **Jum'ah** (Friday Prayer), Dhuhr time is used, but the congregation time may be adjusted slightly, so please check our 'Events' page for the specific start time of the sermon.
